Try to get there early, because folks know this is an excellent place to eat! ”
“ Traveling through Roanoke Rapids we stopped in for dinner. A local favorite. For a small town steakhouse, it was pretty good. Full bar with bar seating. Sports on TV. Outside seating as well if you prefer. We ordered 12 oz ribeye and 4 oz filet. Both steaks were very, very tender! About 1/2 - 1" cuts. Sides were salad, mushrooms and baked potato. All good. Seafood (shrimp or scallops) available for surf and turf option. Service and server (Brittany) was excellent! Only thing in my opinion that keeps from being a 5 star was the flavors, while good, just didn't "pop". Average, tender, flavorful steak. No draft beers but tasty selection of bottled beer with cold mugs. Sports bar atmosphere. Probably one of the better local non-chain restaurant in town. Worth a visit. ”

“ A great family steak restaurant - think Texas Roadhouse not Capital Grill. We probably were the only non-locals in the restaurant. Driving through Roanoke Rapids this place had the best reviews. The food is solid - no frills - fairly priced and the service attentive. Highly recommend if you are ever in the area. The locals all know about it I had the strip steak and cooked exactly to order - medium rare. It was tender and well seasoned. It came with a large side salad, baked potato, and Texas Toast. Nothing fancy but all good. The beers were basic and cold. The brownie cake was like the food solid. The owner roamed table to table and was super friendly. He was the entertainment chatting with each person - "not eating the crust [of the Texas Toast]? That's the best part." He's a former referee/official and has tons of stories to be told. ”
“ Ummm ... Stop off for the night on my way back from FLA and NC house shopping. Picked the spot based off Yelp reviews. Wow. Ambiance was a great family spot but this is based on the food as usual. Let's go: 1- ribeye cooked to PERFECTION medium rare. Gotta eat it when served as cools a bit from its rest. No seasoning - cut was perfect. Nothing else to review as their butcher must be a witch/warlock for meat that good. Put Lugers to shame for a $36 10oz. 2- Whipped butter and sour cream. Why are you reviewing this ... one might ask? Because it's the little things that count. Did he open the door for you? Did she grab a napkin for you when she pinched one for herself? Same concept ... whipped soft chilled butter and sour cream in perfect little cups with a rich tasty goodness. It's caring for the customers at its best. Please take note NY spots serving FROZEN personal butter bars. It's butter, not preparation H. 3- pièce de résistance - key lime pie. My fave. Whipped, light key lime filling on a not so sweet graham - cheaper graham's are usually VERY sweet - no good. The perfect flavor profile of the two - outstanding. I could only compare this pairing to McCarthy and Stevie in their Ebony and Ivory duet. Yep - it's that good and made the 5th star a no brainer. Will probably never return here unless I buy in NC but IF I do - I'm coming back! ”
“ Working in the area (Halifax) late and consulted Yelp and this was highly rated and near my hotel. Drove by and there were couples waiting outside the door. I parked and thought I'd try my luck. Turns out there were open seats at the bar. The menu has a large variety of steaks and salads as well as some seafood options of course a full bar. I chose the scallops and they were grill perfectly. They tasted very fresh and were a great choice. The house made sauce was not needed but was well balanced and tasty. I also enjoyed the vegetable side and the side salad. The place is in a older historical building and is warm, cozy and inviting. The noise level was reasonable for having all the tables full. ”
“ Huge, cooked to order steaks which were delicious and served by a cheerful staff. They have specials and we choose to share the Sirloin Special with 20oz of tender steak and sides per person. They divide tue steak any way you want and serve on separate plates. Oh and you also get a seeker of scallops or shrimp. See photos! Steak was cooked to perfection medium-rare! You will not walk away hungry or disappointed. Service was excellent from start to finish, with frequent checks throughout the meal. We literally never had to flag anyone down as they were always asking if we needed anything, no matter how busy it got. It's a mom and pop type ambiance where the neighbors know one another and a kind stranger even chased me out the door when I accidentally left my purse. That is the epitome of small town hospitality and kindness. Would definitely dine here again! Highly recommend the specials! ”
“ I had a solo dinner here last night. Just found this place in yelp search and this was a highest rated in full service dining in the town. It was a hit maybe home run and great choice. Not a fancy place but cozy with bar and country feeling setting room. Since I was alone last night, had a small appetizer oyster dish. A fresh and rare bake which I like and a few condiments all good. Then I had Rib Eye steak and small salad and steam veggies were included. I think few other choice of side but this steam veggie was a good choice not over cooked as many restaurants anyway. Steak tasted kind of simple with a few spices but meat it self had great flavor and no sauce or additional taste necessary. I add a bit of horseradish, and that added a little kick. Completely different from my usual New York Style steaks but was great. Not often I satisfy with non regular steak dinners but last night was. Not only place and meal but my waiter and their staffs are all friendly and once to out of tower first time guest. I will comeback to this place and highly recommend this place your dinner. ”
